Week Two: Check.

Wow, this week was intense, and I only see it getting harder from here. I spent a good portion of this week trying to just make last weeks additions fit in better, I re-titled things, organized them better, and made sure things were all going smoothly. I feel that this week I made a really good effort at trying to get everything done, but it still seems to all be very overwhelming, even with all the time I normally spend on the computer. At this rate, I think I completed this week a lot better than last week, so that’s an improvement.

Trouble…I had some. The required Are We There Yet? assignment was impossible for me to finish, I tried many different avenues of finishing it, including asking people that do editing for a living for help, and to no avail, but luckily it was the only thing I could not do. I did enjoy, as usual, the daily creates, I find it somewhat exciting to know that everyday there is going to be something completely random for me to do. I also really enjoyed making my funny music poster. I learned the most this week about making GIFs, I had absolutely no clue how to make them before I’d taken this class, and while it’s probably not something I’ll utilize often, at least I now know how.

Something I would have done differently this year is start on the Are We There Yet? assignment earlier. Even with the 4 days I allowed myself, it didn’t seem to be enough time. I have no questions this week.

This weeks work:

Daily Creates: 1, 2, 3, 4

Vignelli Response: here

Designblitz: here

Design Assignments: 1, 2, 3, 4

GIFs: 1, 2

llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is a real place

For this GIF assignment I was supposed to make a GIF of either weather or a weatherman. I always have found the clip I used hilarious that this weatherman can pronounce llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch with no problems whatsoever.

My gif can be found here

And here’s a video on how to pronounce the town name:

Trampled by Turtles

For this GIF assignment I was to make a GIF with one of my favorite musicians. I have no idea how to embed that onto here, so you can find the GIF I made here.

The assignment link is here

  1. Google how to make a GIF because the link on the week 2 page doesn’t work.
  2. Find Makeagif.com here.
  3. Insert the link of the Youtube video you want to use
  4. Edit to your liking
  5. Post

My Photosplosion

This project was really interesting to me, it definitely made me look at things a lot harder than I normally would have, but also made me think of the signs and products I see day to day more critically.

Looking awfully tusk-y today

For this assignment I was to design my own tshirt. Since I love walruses so much, the choice was simple! I loved the color of the walrus painting I found and decided that if I were to make a shirt I would probably want that on it, with just a silly sentence for fun.

The assignment is here

  1. I went here to be able to design my own tshirt, design lab lets you choose what style of shirt, color, and lets you either use their art, or upload your own.
  2. Choose your design picture/art/words
  3. Place them where you want them
  4. Then I screenshotted it and saved it to my computer

Such a Lovely Place, Such a Lovely Face

For this assignment the directions were to take a picture of a 70’s rock band, take a quote from a different 70’s rock band, state that the quote was from yet another different 70’s rock band, and then create a picture displaying it. For mine I took a picture of Led Zeppelin, a quote from The Eagles, and then stated that the quote was from Pink Floyd. I found this extremely funny, mostly because sometimes I do enjoy listening to 70’s music. It hurts me to think that young people these days might think that it was all about the same band.

  1. Choose a picture of a band
  2. Choose a quote from a band
  3. Choose another random band
  4. I overlayed the text onto the picture using this program, Picfont.

Just Keep Swimming!

For this assignment I was to make a venn diagram related to something in current pop culture, so I figured why not use characters from the newest follow up to Finding Nemo. I saw Finding Dory a few weeks ago and it was amazing, it made me cry, and it gave me all the feels. After waiting 13 years for Finding Dory I felt that it was an appropriate pop culture choice for my generation.

  1. Figuring out what I wanted to base my diagram on was the hardest part, but once I decided on my subject it came easily
  2. Make the venn diagram, I used this program, it makes venn diagrams and let you edit them in a manageable manner
  3. Insert your topics in a way that makes sense
